Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone can help me?

I am in the process of changing taps in the bathroom but came across a problem.

I can't seem to be able to isolate the water coming into my property. I have turned both stopcocks in the both bathroom and kitchen and the water still flows with the bathrooms cold feed stopping - Hence I think there is an issue with the main stopcock in the kitchen.

I can recall that plumbers have isolated the mains water at my combi boiler during previous plumbing works.

I have found my valve and it looks like it should be easily turned by a flathead screwdriver but it has what looks like a locking washer stopping it turning.

Does anyone know how to turn off the supply? Do I need a special tool?

The boiler in question is a Worcester Greenstar 24i Junior.

I know its probably not best practice to turn this off but currently I don't see any other choice.

Thanks

Scott

Hi Scott,
it will be possible to isolate the cold supply to the combi, this would then mean that the hot taps were isolated.
as to isolating the cold to the rest of the house you need to close that at the incoming tap or on the street.
or possibly some of your cold water is tank fed, unlikely with having a combi but not impossible!

if you don't know what you are touching then best not close anything at the boiler!
first job is get the incoming stop tap working, time to get the plumber back??
