Hi my boiler is just under 3 years old & has been regularly serviced. Last time was November. Someone coming to see it on Tuesday but would like some input as to what is causing my problems to confirm what the engineer says.

I noticed the other day that the pressure relief pipe outside was dripping & also the condenser pipe. Had a look at the boiler & pressure was down near zero, repressed to just over 1. When my heating came on it shot up to over 3, then settled just over 2. When heating went off I kept an eye on it & noticed that within an hour pressure back down to near zero. I understand may be a problem with expansion vessel or pressure relief but why would the condensing pipe also be dripping?.
I don't want the engineer to just put air in the expansion as a quick fix if my problems suggest something else. Thanks for any input.

the condensing pipe is doing what it is supposed to do i.e. getting rid of condense produced in the normal operation of the boiler.

As above
Then for the rest of your problems you will require the services of a good heating engineer to check, adjust or replace, as required the defective parts to insure the system works correctly for more than the 3 years it has done so far.

Putting air in the expansion vessel isn't a quick fix. It must have the correct charge to it. So your engineer would be correct to check it....along with checking for other issues

Thanks for that. Regarding the dripping condenser pipe you said that is normal but before it didn't drip but expelled water every so often, just seems to have happened at same time as my pressure problem.

Just as I expected. Engineer came yesterday put air in expansion vessel & said, have checked everything & boiler is working fine. Guess what still same problem, pressure dropping to zero when boiler off & rising to 3 when on. Pressure pipe still dripping. Waiting on engineer to call me back.

Yeah I told the guy that's was what Worcester had said but as I have a service & repair contract think he did as little as possible. Know the expansion vessel on my boiler is a bugger as they will have to remove whole boiler to replace it. Thanks

Well as long as the boiler has been installed to the MI's and the clearances have been adhered to, then it's the service and repairs contractors problem.

It doesn't sound right the boiler will have to be removed to replace expansion tank.
Mind you - have had to remove boiler to replace expansion numerous times - at customers expense.

Yeah in these boilers the expansion vessel is mounted to a frame & if your flue doesn't go straight up, mine doesn't then usually the boiler has to be removed.
