HELP.... no hot water.

I really hope someone can give me some advice as I currently have no hot water.

I have a Primatic, single feed system which was working perfectly 24hrs ago, however I drained the system through a radiator drain of cock because I had a leaky radiator valve and since refilling all the radiators are working and I have flowing water from both the hot and cold taps but NO HOT WATER...

I have a back boiler downstairs behind a fire and these pipes are hot however the boiler and pipes upstairs are all cold...

Looking on the web it would appear that I have an airlock and have tried redraining/refilling the system and also leaving all the taps running at the same time but no joy..

Can any one else think of anything else I can do to resolve this???

could be a leak somewhere on system?

or boiler fault.

No signs of leak and heater in lounge seems to be working as all pipes are hot around it.... and central heating is working fine......

I think after more process of elimination there is an air lock between the back boiler in the lounge and the bolier upstairs (Gravity side).... Just need to figure a way of getting rid of it!!!

I assume by Primatic system you mean a Primatic cylinder (not a boiler) and back boiler.

If you drain these systems they usually have to be refilled very slowly or you can loose the primary bubble in the cylinder's heat exchanger.

Also some have a separate air bleed about half way down the cylinder,try that.

Exactly what Bob said.

Fill slowly as the system creates its own air lock inside the cylinder, if this is not achieved then the system will not work and you will get discoloured water coming out the hot tap. so if you 'back fill' it you will have this problem to.
