ken and wendy

since having some plumbing jobs done our hot water pressure is seriously bad. When we turn any of our hot water taps on they run for about 10 seconds then start to splutter and slow right down to a trickle.

We don't know in which direction to turn....we were ok until an installation of a power shower was done....all sorts of probs....plumbing done wrongly ....then fixed and an addition of a Pressure Reducing valve(?) was put in.....since the Pressure Reducing valve was fitted we have had the problem.

Hope someone out there has got some ideas for us to try....who should we be seeking help from?

sounds very much like a blockage, don't know what a page ranking valve is, do you mean pressure reducing valve?

Can you take a picture of the valve, how does the hot water get to the pump? (what connectors do you have on the hot water cylinder)

Have you contacted the installer...

Why was the pressure reducing valve fitted? Is this the right way round? This sounds like you might have a block or an air lock. What exactly has the plumb fitted, from his first visit to the day your problem started

It could be a number of things, depending on your system, (tank in loft or combi etc)
fitting a PRV will reduce flow, why and where was it installed.

Your installer does not have a right to ignore you or suggest that he is not interested, if he has made a mistake on your installation, or left you with a problem, due to bad workmanship or just plain lack of knowledge, then he is responsible.
write him a letter, asking him to put it right - or back to how it used to be, if you dont get a reply then citizens advice bureau will advise on how to get it fixed at his cost.

good luck

As you can see people here are wanting to help but need a little more info,

When did the problem start?
Was the shower/pump installed and then the problem started?
When you called your fitter back what steps did he take, did he then put on a trv?
Does the shower work ok?
What is your water pressure?
Did the PRV cure the issue at all? even for a short time.

to reduce the pressure of cold nwater to the power shower as it was overpowering the hot water in the mixer

Presuming you have a system boiler and a cold water tank in the loft,
a cold feed should be taken off of the this tank and fed to the pump, the hot water is taken from the hot water cylinder and again fed to the pump.

At a guess the installer has fed mains to the pump and has reduced the pressure considerably to match the hot feed from the cylinder.

If (someone else may have more of an idea) that is the case the cold water tank may only getting a dribble of cold water and its taking a lifetime to fill.

If this is the case, more plumbing work is required.

plumber fitted Power Shower but the mixer didnt produce enough hot water....shower was luke warm ....and POWER Shower was 'screaming'
So he then fitted valve....no improvement in temp....and that was when the pressure in hot taps fell.
We dont have combi...just standard boiler...bout 4 year old
We have had several jobs done in the shower room....pipes had to be moved, shower tray re fitted, cubicle re done etc
Third builder/general plumber says that it could have blockage... we are in a hard water area.....praps got furred up!

yes cold water tank in loft
When you say PUMP...do you mean Central H pump or Power shower pump
