Hot water cylinder

Hi all hope you can help have just fitted a new cylinder moved the central heating pump and motorised valve to suite however filled the system and have heat to the radiators however no hot water has anybody got any ideas i think the motorissed valve is working as can here it kick in

If i have tried the manual overide and it still does not work could it be an airlock in the coil in the cylinder?

The cylinder coil sure can get air locked. But what valve or valves are you using?

Mid position three port, three port diverter, zone valves.

A mid position valve can usually be moved to its mid position and then you would have both legs getting hot. A diverter usually only heats one leg at a time. Zone valves are only electric stop taps so control each leg inidvidually.

If there are no air bleeds about to try for air. Get a bucket if you can and crack the backnut on the hot water side of the valve after making sure the valve is in the right position. This should bleed any air out of the coil, but wait till the system is cold to do it. And be quick or get wet. Watch the carpets and ceiling below.

Its a Plumbers game of chicken.

Thanks the valve fitted is a Grunfoss Hsa3 just notice when i put the water to heat only ,the radiators are heating up but not the cylinder may be an issue in the way the valve been positioned or i have rewired it wrong will have to check it as for the air locks got my wellies at the ready ...lol

I've seen replacement cylinders installed where the new top coil connection sits higher than the old one. If you have just extended the existing pipework upwards to suit, you end up with a air lock in this "loop". If this is the case you have to fit an auto air vent in the top of it.

if you can hear the valve 'kick in' when on hot water mode,valve probably wired incorrectly as no power to valve motor gives you hot water only
A quick test for you to do is turn power off to system this will make sure valve in hot water position ,then remove valve head from body ,then turn power on to allow boiler and pump to operate,hot water should get hot as valve in correct position ,if so wire valve correctly,if rads get hot,valve wrong way round,is nothing gets hot possible air lock

Thanks Puddle will try that must be something like that as when i switch just the hot water just the heating comes on?
