Hello,

Hopefully i can get some advice here. Long story short, we are muddling through working out a new central heating and hot water system, having moved into a new build property at the start of this year. I'm reluctant to contact a plumber at this time as its mainly a user issue I believe, the builders have been very ineffectual in helping us.

We have a;

Hot Water Cylinder - Range Tribune HE / Model = Indirect / Capacity = 180 Litres
Boiler - Logic Heat 15
Thermostats - Danyfoss TP9000 (Hot Water currently set to ON)

Essentially Central Heating is sorted. We understand the programs, and it is currently set to off during the summer.

The issue is with the Hot Water - The system is set to 'On' via the Danfoss TP9000 thermostat, which essentially means 24/7 hot water production? The thermo on the hot water cyclinder is set to 65 degress.

What bothers me the most is the the system sounds like it constantly working, or pumping water through and the room the tanks are stored is consistently VERY hot. I dont believe the hot water needs to be on constantly.

What I am after is really the safest and most cost effective method of using this system for hot water? Should I be turning the hot water off unless we need it? Should I putting in a pre set program of mornings and evenings?

I realise that there might seem like a simplistic answer to all this but the last thing I want to do is fiddle with something I don't understand and get it to the point where I need to call out someone to undo my mistakes.

Any help is really appreciated.

I would suggest that you set the hot water to come on just once a day, say one hour before you get up in the morning, taking that you shower when you rise.

If you find that it runs out you can either push the HW boost button or if it keeps happening then set the hot water to heat for 40mins later on in the day/evening.

Modern hot water cylinders will re-heat in around 30mins so really is no need to have it switched on all the time even if the cylinder stat should switch the boiler off when it reaches 65 deg C.

Hope that helps

1-If everything is working correctly the thermostat on the cylinder should be satisfied within 30 minutes,try turning the boiler thermostat up it may be set to minimum and may not be reaching 65 degrees, so if that is the case the cylinder thermostat will never reach temperature and pump will carry on running.
2-Or there could be a fault.
