HW zone valve not closing after programmed time elapsed

Hi, I'm looking for some advice regarding programming a time for hot water to come on and off.

I set up my programmer for it to come on for 1 hour and it come on fine (zone valve opens bang on time). however, the zone valve does not close after time has elapsed.


When I select hw off on my programmer the valve closes no problem. So I guess the valve is working......

Any advice or suggestions greatly appreciated

need a bit more info,

is it a new valve? what sort of valve 2 or 3 port.

If it isn't a new valve and you've not played with the wiring and you've had no other work done on the heating system then I'd plump for the obvious and go knackered valve.

If this is the case I'd just replace it.

Hi thanks for the reply.

It's a 2 ports valve. Hard to tell how old as I have just recently moved in but seems to be in good condition from the outside ( appreciate that doesn't really mean anything). However the valve closes perfectly when I select off on the programmer and also opens perfectly at the starts of a program. So overall seems to be ok, it's just when coming to the end of a timed period their is an issue.

Weirdly I set the timer to elapse at 15:00 And when it didnt close I just let it run to see if closed at a later time and at approx 15:20 the valve closed and subsequently the boiler a few mins later??

Sounds like your programmer is playing up to me.
