Icos Ideal Boiler HE12 - no power

Hi

I have the above system and it's not working (completely dead, nothing on display at all). The Siemens thing underneath works and red lights are on at the time the heating/hot water is supposed to be but neither come on at the times.

I've googled and see PCB board failures are common with these. Does that mean I need an electricial or a plumber? I know boilers, etc would normally be plumbers remit but, if the board is an electrical board, is an electician more appropriate? And if so, do elecricians have the necessary certificates for this?

Sorry if these questions are so basic, I really don't have a clue.

BTW system is in a new build which is only 3 years old (I haven't checked fuse, etc as I wouldn't know what I was looking for)

You need a gas safe engineer

sparkies dont do boilers unless they are also gas safe qualified and same goes for plumbers

I'd strongly recommend the latter as we can vouch for most of the lads on here. Most would rather chew their own foot off than get a negative review posted on here!

Me again (sorry!)

I've had a gas safe engineer out today. He's looked at it and says it seems to be the PCB. He had a PCB board in the van (for another job I presume) so temporarily replaced mine with it (I assume to satisfy me and himself that it was definitely the PCB).

Anyway, on connecting the other one, the display showed 'c' which, on checking the book, says boiler is active for central heating but this then changed to L A which the book seems to suggest is an overheat error

He then left saying he was going to double-check the PCB he tried replacing mine with and give me a call back tomorrow.

So, I'm confused (even more than before). Assuming his PCB is perfectly fine, does that mean I've got 2 faults? I also saw some mention of Ideal doing the work for a flat fee of £245. Would this cover both jobs or just the PCB changeover meaning that I would also have a further fee for the overheat error?

My system is an HE12, would it be possible for an overheat error to show if the PCB was set up for a different system?

Sorry for all the questions, would appreciate any clarification. I did ask the engineer but he baffled me slightly with technical speak.
