My system is a microbore system using 10mm plastic, on my Potterton HE Plus boiler the radiator temperature is not set all the way to the max, and the max temperature the boiler reads is around 81/82.

Question is can the temperature for radiators on the boiler be set to max? what are the implications? can the plastic pipes handle higher heat?

Its totally fine to set it to the max. Assuming plastic pipe used complies with Class S standards it will come with temperatures above 100c. You radiators will get hotter however because yours is condensing boiler setting it to max reduced the amount of heat it reclaims from combustion gases since the process relies on a set difference in temperature hence most condensing boilers have a marked position on said dial.

Long story short you are fine you will just use disproportionaly more gas more for the extra bit heat.
