I have an existing leaky toilet cistern fitted round about 1985. Time to get a new more practical one with smaller water capacity. I have purchased a Portland unit from Wickes and Before I try to fit it I am measuring up the fittings so that hopefuly i don't encounter surprise problems. Everything appears to be fine except the diameters of the waste pipes appear to be different.I have run a piece of string around both and marked it and it appears the existing one is 330mm & the new 320mm. Presently I have a convoluted push on pipe ,will it take up the slack or is there a spacer/collar I will have to get before I start?. Or do I just bite the bullet and get a plumber. If I should what is a fair price for fitting the unit . Thanks.

The pan connector should be fine. (Although I usually renew them anyway just incase)
if you have an isolation valve on the cold feed to the toilet and another toilet to use in the mean time. Give it a go (if you have the time, don't rush yourself) if not then get a plumber in.
