We had a gas plumber look at our boiler beacuse the pressure gauge was not working, just sitting on zero. He replaced it with a new one and its still a dud. He said that there was obviously other issues and I need to get a valiant specialist. The boiler actually works fine but I want to move a radiator and add a new one. So I need to drain the system but filling it again without a gauge? My question is can I fit an inline gauge anywhere on the system, I have a laundry room where I could fit it directly under the rad. I don't want to shell out another 180 quid on a boiler call out if I can help it. Thanks in advance

Yes you can fit a remote gauge anywhere on the system, I would put an isolation valve on first then a small gauge but have you tried pushing the minus button ( - ) on the boiler control panel ?

Are you saying you paid for a someone for a repair and a gauge that didn't work.

Are you also saying you accepted his diatribe about other issues and to get a Valiant expert.

How about questioning the bloke and asking him if he knows what he is doing and if he is sure about the correctness of the new gauge.

I would consider your problem a fairly simple problem and finding other issues , obvious.

I'll try the minus button thing when I get in from work, I've had the conversation with the plumber OZ, believe u me.....I didn't want to go into it here as it didn't seem appropriate and yes it was £180 inc VAT

Could be a very simple fix, as both gauges didn't work I suspect the "fault" was elsewhere (can't go into detail as against forum rules) but the engineer should have rectified it on his visit
You don't need a Vaillant specialist, just a better or more experienced engineer
