I am drafting an email to the Housing Assoc at the moment.

I don't know whether this 'gizmo' they are going to fit will bypass the boiler's pressure gauge or act independently of it.

In the future, IF the boiler developed a leak, how would I know, would the boiler just stop working?

Surely water leaking somewhere for months, if not years (as they not propose to do anything more), will result in more problems and damage.

Any thoughts on other issues that might arise from their proposals?
 
they could just be putting a pump set on with a break tank perfectly legal but expensive option, best to repair leak in first place.
 
Took your advice and emailed the HA.
They will investigate the leak fully after Christmas and are fitting their 'fix' as a temporary measure.
The plumber phoned that he is on his way, just needed to pick a part up first.
30mins later he phoned again to say he's having problem getting said part

and so I patiently wait, yet again... think he has arrived
