A friend just purchased a new house. This was found behind a radiator in the bedroom. Its decommissioned and there is a boiler in the kitchen that supplies the current CH. I've just never seen anything like it before.

I think my account is too new to post links or images, so please copy / paste or if a kind folk could reupload?

Whatever it is...tell your friend they are lucky it has been decommissioned and a new(er) boiler has been installed.

It is indeed a servo warm boiler the radiator would have been on swivel valves (like hinges) that allow access to the boiler mor maintenance there would usually be some form of surround around it and the swivel valves would leak the second you looked at them essentially it was a good idea in practice not so much...

very popular in the sixties ive removed loads
servowarm were the bg of the day all there kit was unique to them the header tank was often a vase on the wall you filled with a jug manual change over valve from heat to water cylinders piped in 15mm

Old Servowarm unit, even the timer, got to be a collectors item where did you find it ? Think it was called the select 45

It's not my house, its a place one of my friends has just purchased. They are replumbing the whole system with an unvented setup. Should I be telling him to stick it on ebay??

He'd be better off sticking it in a skip but bang it on eBay if you want. Some mugs'll buy anything from there.
