Thanks flushing with x800 seems to have cured it.

I see from another post that its a Alpha CB24 which has a minimum output of 9.3kw and a max of 23.3kw. All gas boilers fire up at ~ 60% of max output, in your case, say 14kw, the boiler should then modulate to maintain its SP...

Thanks so I rang technical they told me to do a test on the divertor valve. I thought this would only possibly cause a problem with the hot water. But they said it can cause both to cycle. Unsure why it settles when hot though. Will try...

It does seem a good explanation for it.

Thanks. With regards to point A. Once hot it doesn't cut out on hot water. I'm correct in saying the boiler doesn't modulate down in hot water mode is always on max? But very good points

Assuming it's a gas boiler, I have two guesses: (a) when the system is cold the boiler tries to run at 24kW and cycles due to lack of circulation but once everything is warm it modulates down to a level that the circulation rate copes...

Just at abit of a lose why it settles when the boiler gets to temperature

Its a 24kw obviously heating load be nowhere near that. Lack of flow possibly low performance of the pump?
    • M
Any ideas what could cause a boiler to repeatedly cycle on and off on both hot water and central heating. Until the boiler gets to temperature then settles down and stays on for both.

Alpha cb24. Due to age of it was wondering if there was a way to clean without disturbing the boiler

Any idea how they make sure it's going through the plate when put in the filling loop? As running the hot tap will divert the water that is presently in the heat exchanger around the plate. Run heating for a second before. Running the...

Thanks I'll have a look in to the fernox F3. Is it seen as, as strong as the x800?

Do they use method where you can syphon the clearer in to the main hex? Obviously closer to the plate then. Or just add the cleaner to a radiator/filling loop

Does this allow the plate heat exchanger to be cleaned without taking it out of the boiler? Or am I thinking abit over the top.

Its a combi yes. Do you think it may work?

If putting this in a system would it at all help clean a plate heat exchanger if repeatedly turning the hot tap on so the C/H water runs through the plate? I imagine not or everyone would so it instead of taking the plate out. Thanks

I watched a video and it went in about S-traps self spyhoning after discharge and said they were band in the USA. This isn't the case in the UK?

The isolation is usually ok in these?. Have been to some probably cheap filling loops that leak from the on/off lever when used.
    • M
Thanks means 2 less compression joints on an outside tap installation. I don't think many merchants stock them ? Haven't asked yet but just seem online
    • M
Does anyone fit these internally for outside tap installation? Instead of an isolation valve and a separate double check valve.

Do these fill valves have a double check valve in the tail? Seems to imply it in the technical.

Im looking at it. If put a Dudley in would I be able to remove the yellow pin to split it? As the front of the syphon looks close to the cistern.
    • M
Matt0029 replied to the thread Rigid syphon.
No it wouldn't would be best to replace with a Dudley 3 part one or just an adjustable height one.

Hi just to confirm does this look like a rigid syphon. Not seen in person but doesn't look like it one of the ones that splits so can replace the diaghram. Thanks

If I take the cistern off and take the syphon out would any 1.5inch syphon washer fit to seal it. It's leaking through the seal were the syphon sits on the cistern. Tried tightening in place no look.

Are they just called flow through valve expansion vessels
    • M

Do they have a specialist name? Going to have a look at them
    • M
Has anyone fit inline expansion valve on the cold water supply to an unvented cylinder. The normal style were you just tee of after the composite valve can leave a dead leg in the pipework? A local water authority has pulled some. Thanks
