Hey guys. My mum lives in fuerta Ventura and she’s having issues with drain smells. She sent me these pictures- a quick google and I don’t even know what it is? Obviously being in Hampshire I’m not local to pop over and have a look... any ideas? Thanks

It's access to the drains, probably the shower waste goes into it under the inner cover.
They can sometimes also be a floor drain if there's a gap around the top cover.

Also if the top cover is easilly removable it can be a slop out drain after the floor has been washed.

It’s not the best photo, and can’t really make out what it is, but from what I can see, looks like a drain for a wet room shower.

I think CBW is right it looks like it's there to unblock the soil pipe should any appliance in the bathroom get blocked. If she is getting smells it's not making the correct seal and will need just the "door" replaced. To keep the smell at bay until she gets a replacment maybe stick a plastic bag over it all then push the cover back on should seal it for now

Fairly common in Spanish properties, normal to have one in the bathroom. We had one in our Spanish house but never suffered from any smells from it. The smells normally came via the shallow 'u' bend in the shower which needed 'topping up' if we were not there for a period of time
