Toilet seat screws won’t tighten

Our toilet seat screws are hidden in the pan and are self tightening, however they just spin around in position and won’t tighten. Any advice please

What's on the other end of the bolt? Is it like a toggle? If it is you need to undo it enough to allow the toggle to fall but not too far that it falls off.

Looks like the bit that should go under the ceramic, is staying in the hole.

Once you have the toggle dropped down and across. Try lifting up on screw ( by pulling up the black plastic washer) as you tighten.

This is to stop the spinning and at the end you should be able to let go and it will go tight.

Great advice, the bottom but needed securing whilst the screw turned clockwise. All sorted thanks
