Hi all,

I was hoping someone can guide me to install the RHS42 water softener. I am specifically having difficulty understanding what to use for connecting the softener to my existing water lines that seem to be cpvc.

I saw a YouTube video of where someone used 1” to water softener and the other end is 3/4” shark bite flexible metal tubes to the house water flow. However, my cpvc seem to be 1” in the house. I would need to convert 1” to 3/4” to use such product. Wouldn’t that reduce flow of water? Is that recommended?

Or, would you just glue a bunch of elbows and cpvc together?

Attaching picture of my water line that I need to tap the softener to as reference.

Your link doesn't work.

Obviously if your water softener has 1" connexions, then I agree it would make sense to try not to reduce to 3/4", but if you have to plumb a short section in 3/4" because that's how the machine you have chosen connects, then so be it. A few feet of pipework at a smaller bore probably won't make any noticeable difference on top of whatever restriction the water softener itself imposes.

I am not familiar enough with American market fittings to be able to comment on specific products. These things vary so much between countries that what is easily available in one place is rare as hen's teeth in another.

Thank you. How would you install into this. I found a shakebite product that’s 1” to 1” braided stainless steel connections.

If it’s ok for cpvc and you have enough pipe if not you might have to glue a coupler and add some pipe

Your supply house that your getting the cpvc will have there recommendations as there’s many brands eg oatey
