The drain cover in my shower cubicle is flaking and discoloured. I was hoping to remove the centre section and replace it with one of those slightly-domed covers, concealing the outer ring. Unfortunately it seems they all come with a 42mm spigot attached, and the hole is just 40mm. I don’t want to turn this into a major project because the shower cubicle itself will need replacing in a year or two. Any ideas? TIA!

If the trap cover looks unsightly why not simply just prep and paint it with some silver paint. It does not need to last very long because you will be changing the shower within a couple of years.
