    fire surround

    putting together a marble fire surround,i was surprised to see no fixings at all,is this normal.i have the two pillars a cross piece and a mantel,and looking at it they stand freely, rest on each other, i mean how you suppose to secure it to the wall and surely the mantel must need secured...

    flexi on towel rail.

    i came across this today, some class act had connected the 15mm flow, copper pipe using a flexible tap connector to the towel rail, i mentioned it to the punter, as i was only there to stop a toilet leak and he said i think he was a cowboy, i agreed !!!

    i would usually pass the building work over to a builder friend, but in current climate i am thinking of having a go at changing from normal gas fire to a hole in the wall fire, has anyone done one before and how did they find it.

    pressure drops

    measuring the pressure at the meter with the boiler running at full rate, i recorded a pressure of 22m/bar and at the inlet on boiler gas valve i recorded a pressure of 20 m/bar, would you class this as a 2m/bar drop ?
