Anyone know a bar mixer with reversible h+c supplies?

Customer got a friend's husband to install shower but cold is on left, hot right so temperature not functioning properly. Doesn't appear to be access to pipes anywhere to switch the feeds. Anyone know if there is a bar mixer where you can make it work with cold on left? I've seen non-bar mixers...

Creating a vacuum on CH pipe runs.

I do this regularly to change a leaky/broken radiator valve, usually without issue. Sometimes I do this to change a rad, even if changing valves / altering pipework, do one side at a time, usually without issue but sometimes (especially if piped on drops it seems) get air problems. My question...

Evening wise heads, a question on plastic

What percentage of new builds today have exclusively plastic run wherever pipes aren't seen? What percentage do you reckon there were in 2000? How about 1980? Thanks

Did solder ring fittings exist for imperial pipe?

Or does the prescence of solder ring fittings (barring a metric to imperial coupler having been used somewhere) mean you're dealing with metric pipe? Thanks

How long after plastering before you hang rads?

I knew this before but it's been ages and can't remember now. Cheers

Automatic air vents in loft spaces: Questions

Do you use them? And if so how long would you leave one on a system that had air in it before returning to screw down/isolate (after hoping the air would have escaped in meantime)? Get the impression some of them leak if left but don't know how common this is. Perhaps some of you leave them...

    Blockage in CH pipe?

Customer said rad not getting hot. Had a look. Pipe red hot up to TRV but rest of rad luke warm. Heating had been on about an hour. So changed TRV as usually is that. Same problem. Disconnected TRV from rad and opened it up into a tub. Flow but very weak. So suspect something reducing flow in...

Anyone use sockets on a ratchet for monobloc taps?

And if so I'm thinking sockets would need to be seriously deep or is there something out there that can adapt a set of monobloc spanners so they can be used with something with a ratchet? Cheers 1600603961 Just seen this, expensive at £150 but looks the business. View...

Rad with one valve at bottom, other side connected at top..

I believe this used to be done to encourage circulation in an old system that wasn't pumped? I've never seen one done like it before. I've not visited the job (don't even know where it is yet) but someone sent me photos of a rad they want changed to a floor standing towel rad thingy which would...

Hot water too hot at basin pillar taps...

Unvented cylinder supplies hot water. Customer has two pedestal basins, both two holes, with separate hot and cold taps. One is tiny, with 135mm tap centres, the other standard and - i think - but got distracted chatting about stuff and even though I measured I am no longer certain of my...

    Are these demountable hep fittings?

Never fitted hep fittings, seem to remember olders ones couldn't be demounted but these looks like modern ones. And which of these tools is best...? They all seem to do the same thing? Thanks 1596705888 These be the fittings......./\ /\ /\

Does Franke Olympus accept generic valves?

Screwfix stylee. The official ones are massively over-priced ( see below) and customer has two so total is ridiculous. I know there are Amazon generic ones claiming to fit but some reviews say otherwise. Just want to know if the Screwfix ones fit the Olympus if any of you have done it. If not...

    Air gap incoporating inlet valves

Seen these are now on sale in Toolstation. Is this a law change coming in? Non in Screwfix. From description sounds like you can fit a double check valve if no room? Pretty bulky looking things https://www.toolstation.com/plumbing/toilet-fittings/c902

What are these little taps called?

And do I need to isolate the electrical supply/check it's dead before replacing? I'm hoping not as don't have any equipment or know-how to do so. Thanks

Using one shower makes second shower run/make noise

Sent a video from a friend of mine who is a plumber bit new to game. Not a job of mine or one I've visited so limited info. But was sent a video. When a shower is used a second shower in another bathroom in the house runs (more than a dribble, quite a bit comes out) and makes high pitch...

Changing this shower with breaking any tiles

And fitting one that can cover the grouted in areas cut around the valve (the old one had a chrome cover-plate, not pictured. it is an ideal standard) Solid wall but access to pipes coming through from cupboard on other side. Gravity feeds and centres I measured to be 130-135mm Any ideas or...
