Want to change this concealed cistern

Will a euro size flush pipe 50mm to 43mm and euro size pan bung likely fit fine in exsiting pan (which i want to keep)? Not seen this flush pipe arrangement before and looks a bit peculiar. Thanks

Are towel rad heights measured from rungs or side ends?

Googled it but didn't find an answer. Not critical but just wondering, so I am.

    Bi-sexual shower door.

Bi-fold, sorry. I've not fitted one before. Looks pretty straight forward as it looks like it just arrives in 3 pieces, two wall channels and a pre-assembled door. Three questions: 1) How do you get the door into the two wall channels once they've been screwed to the wall? Is there just...

Extent to which you would conceal internal water meter?

Obviously it needs to be readable and good practise would require you can get at it without damaging anything (albeit it might still be a pain in the rear) but does anyone know if there any other rules water boards tend to have about accessibility? Or other reasons why I shouldn't consider what...

    Boiler thoughts please

I recently bought my first flat and so am in possession of my first boiler. I am not gas safe/don't touch boilers etc. The woman who sold me the flat had only been there 2 years and had little info but thought it was about ten years old and said she'd had it serviced both years. It has had no...

    Gas leak alarm recommendations

My mum has lost her sense of smell and lives alone. Her neighbour had a gas leak yesterday and made us think maybe she should have a gas alarm as well as the fire and CO ones I put up for her as I presume the smell of gas is the most likely way people realise there is a leak. Wasn't sure if...

    Chrome waste pipe.....

Never fitted any but seem to remember people saying it's often oddly sized? Do normal compression fittings and traps join onto it ok (good quality mcalpine stylee)? Need to join on some already in situ/can't be removed Thanks

Shower cartridge for "high pressure" or "combi boilers"

3 options for a cart I need (haven't taken it out to examine.) Low pressure, high pressure or combi. They've got a combi, so presumably I'd go for the latter option but what system are they calling high pressure? I thought a combi was 'high' pressure, so to speak. Is Unvented 'higher' pressure...

Anyone ever change works of gate valves?

If so, how often do you find your replacement is compatible with the original? Are there different brands that vary enough that having one of a each/a few raises chances of success a lot? If so which ones? Cheers

A Fluidmaster fill valve works well on gravity fed?

The standard ones bundled in a pack with the flush valve from the sheds/screwstation/toolfix don't perform well on gravity fed in my experience. I've heard one of the 'pro' version has a restrictor you can remove to make it work better? If so :- 1) Which valve is this? 2) Does it perform well...

Can you anyone tell me what fittings these are?

1.5" solvent weld plastic comes through wall from kitchen sink and down into this. Needs repiping due to bad joint. Would ideally like to pipe down as low as I can go without disturbing the bits actually in the floor but don't recognise the fittings below the coupler. Couldn't even feel...

Calor gas heater is smaller than recommended room

What is the reason they give a minimum recommended room size? Are there any dangers involved in putting in a room that's smaller than recommended? This sort of thing https://www.calorgas-heaters.co.uk/376-thickbox_default/lifestyle-seasons-warmth-portable-calor-gas-heater.jpg Thanks [thread...

Customer wants combined WC and basin

Something like this Never fitted or even seen one installed. Seemed to notice in passing these started to become available a short while back at some well known sheds/online sheds. Before I even start thinking about it/browsing I thought I'd float the topic here because there's so much...

Can you pipe a towel rad at the top?

So pipes drop down from above and feed and return join rad at the top right and top left. Bottom left and right just have blanks. I'm thinking only problem would be bleeding. So then fit an auto-bleed up in the loft. Just would look so much neater for two chrome pipes to run down and join the...

Anything I can do/check before calling a gas safe guy?

Mum's boiler (logic 24 combi) working fine since she moved in 4 months ago now only gets hot water if heating is on. I'm not gas safe and don't touch/check anything electric.
