main 15he heat only explosive ignition

Ok the above boiler is doing my nut in. It has explosive ignition and I have replaced the electrodes, spark igniter, check condensate and sump for blockages, inlet pressure good, fan running ok and so I called manufacturer who told me to test resistences on gas valve. He said gas valve is...

    climaflex pipe insulation

I see on their website they say it can be used for exterior use as well as indoors. Has anyone used it outside and had any problems with it? It is a lot easier to buy from plumbfix than having to buy from online

    tiles cracking with underfloor heating

Just had a call from a cust who is having this problem? Could it be the wrong grout used? Water running too hot or screed all wrong? What can I look out for and what can be done about it? Apart from taking all up and starting again?

    my 1st water heater install

I have been installing a main water heater today and when in the flue box the instructions are quite basic. All they say is screw and tape. But with it came a big rubber, like an oring the size of the flue. Does anyone have any idea where this goes? ( maybe where the joint is on the telescopic...

    blocked cold feed

I haver never seen a 22mm choked up this bad before. And this is apparently after a flush a couple of yrs ago. Which they had because water wasn't getting hot. But, the little hole actually did end up heating the cylinder. Replaced with an 824. Couldn't see any rubber hoses inside?

Can anyone recommend a good place to buy them? Am guessing online is best but, if there is a place someone knows of in the Surrey area that would be great. Cheers fellers

    Toilet flapper syphons...

are they any good? I have been to aclose coupled toilet that has a dudley turbo 88r and it fitted with the whole 9ltr flush and it is not getting rid of just toilet tissue in the pan. A lot of water gets into the pan. It just doesn't seem like much force. So, i have seen these flapper wastes and...

    high analyser readings on greenstar

Went to do a service today on above boiler. Ration was 0.0021 and ppm was 222. Co2 was at 10.3 which is within the limits stated. This is AR then hey? It also had a burst expansion vessel and is under warranty so turned boiler off and told them to call Manufacturers in to fix.

to flush or not to flush

I went to see a job earlier where all the rads are full of sludge and f and e tank is constantly overflowing. The vent does not rise 450mm above the tank as the tank is in the eaves of a loft conversion with no room above for the vent. it literally just rests on top of f and e tank. Now this has...

immersion heater thermostat keeps tripping on..

A direct unvented. I am thinking that the element is just full of scale so keeps over heating and cutting out. But is the way to test these by resistance on coil and resistance across thermostat? I have read on here that testing on points with casing is good? What does this do? Is the casing...

w plan system to y plan system or maybe even an s plan?

i have got to change over a w plan system. If it was just changing to a Y plan, is it just a case of ptting in the new mid position valve and running a hot water off? Or, would you recommend changing it to an S plan?

    interesting fault with combi

just started getting a very strange phenomenon when using the taps in the understairs toilet. If one turns on both taps at the same time, the system starts thumping and the water comes out in spurts. If one then turns off one tap the other stops also. But no where else in the house. It's not...

    Gas meter unions

I am looking at them in the BES catalogue and one of them says 1 x 22mm I.d/ 28mm outside diameter. Now is that saying the copper is 6mm thick? Also, it does not seem possible to buy a 1 x 28mm with a groove in for the meter bracket. I know it really doesn't matter what connection comes...

route for running new gas carcass

I have to run a new carcass due to a leak on old iron pipe under the screed floor. The problem is is that the meter is in a cupboard and there is a hall way. Is it alright to run it across the ceiling in the hall? It will be boxed in.

Are there any? As in left, right and centre.Or not, as you are not allowed to connect toilets opposite each other due to crossflow? I hope that makes sense. Basically, i have a ladies toilets to plumb in and the soil pipe comes in right at the centre of where the toilets will be. So two to the...
