Worcester say a minimum of 600mm before joining into plastic, Baxi say 300mm, other mis have no requirement. Why exactly is it that some manufacturers have specific lengths before joining into plastic? I've just read the data sheet for hep pipe and although it may shorten the 50 year life...

    Grundfos Heating Pump

4 floor terraced house with 15 rads - only a 15-60. That's crazy, right? They go through pumps every 2 years so I've recommended a bigger pump. What's the best way to size up pumps in relation to number of rads / floors / size of house.

    Worcester Greenstar 24i Jnr

Never come across this before.. Boiler in demand for heating, sounds like running water from the bottom of the flue where it meets the condense trap, also a gurgling sound from the terminal (went to check for blockages). Condense run blocked? Boiler keeps locking out. Also, fan sounds like...

    Couple of questions

    1. Condense pumps (Jet branded) - this one has earth neutral live and 2 black wires for hi limit cut out. I just connected the LNE and omitted the black wires. Would this cause the pump to not work correctly? 2. Surely I can run the condense from the pump in any direction? I've had to run it...

    Plastic Stack Repair

I've not done too much 4" work - as far as I can tell the boss goes into the socket above, then a short piece of pipe with a socket fits around the bottom which goes into another socket in the ground. I need to replace the boss and pipework underneath it going into the socket in the ground...

    2 inch Copper Waste Pipe

Last year the 2 inch copper pipe had a split in it so I cut it off and replaced it with plastic and joined it back to the 2 inch copper with a universal compression fitting. The last part of the pipe has now split so my options are: Cut the elbow off and extend the plastic to there - but I'll...

    Gas Safe Register

I want to get my own personal gas safe registration rather than being registered through my firm. a) I'm already anxious about the meeting with the engineer and I haven't even booked yet b) what kind of things do they ask? I just need confirmation I'm doing this right as per my drawing.. Not sure if this is clear enough.. but... I've replaced an old mechanical timer and room stat and had to rewire as custard wanted them relocated. I was trying to do this without a wiring centre and it kept blowing the fuse...

    Vertical rads

I've never fitted a vertical rad yet but will be doing so on Saturday. . I've done a little research and know it's important to pipe up the flow on the correct side of the rad so it flows through the entire rad and not just the outside. My question is this: Say the flow is on the left, can...
