As Chris has said, probably an air lock as you don't have much head of water.
But if you are trying to clear the airlock from the kitchen sink mixer, - take note that all modern kitchen mixers DO NOT mix in their spout. The spout keeps the two waters seperate at its base. It's for to stop water...
Been to a job where a Myson fan heater (run off oil heating system) is fitted in the plinth of a new kitchen.
Customer says they have to come down in morning to a cold kitchen and manually switch it on. They would like it to be working when the oil boiler is going.
I assumed these could be set...
This is a Screwfix deal of the day (Tuesday only) I think. Side or bottom entry Fluidmaster Pro versions for £7.99.

I was out looking at a job the customer wants a rad moved. Turns out he needs 2 rads repiped & a new shower room & all in solid floors in a fairly new posh flat.
I am not gas qualified, but first thing I was asked about was the combi gas boiler wasn't working. Quick look at the boiler showed no...
Stopcocks really only for on mains supply to a house or on mains to an electric shower. Everything else better full flow valves and use the lever ones on pipes from cold tank and to pump both hot & cold supplies.
Some showers are very open heads - like the overhead type & also the numerous jet...
A friend of mine is thinking of replacing her gas boiler while she is having her kitchen redone.
I am not involved in gas, but wondered what boiler would be best for her long term and would like to know a few of the better boilers before she asks around.
I know this is often a matter of...
My point about putting a ballvalve on each tank if you do fit an extra tank is that the water will be less dormant. Also better just to use one tank for cold draw off & other for hot. You will always be blending the waters anyway.
Why do you need massive amounts of water just to shower? Most of...
Think JCS meant your cold water tank could have a second tank added.
If you do fit a second cwt, use one for cold feed & the other for hot feed & fit a ball valve to each tank
On the point of Grade of copper cylinders, - I know that Grade 3 has a Grade 2 base (thicker) but I know some Grade 2 cylinders only have same base.
Grade 3 cylinders are 0.7mm thick sides and 1.2mm base I think.
There might be vented stainless steel cylinders made in a size to suit you.
I would sometimes be prepared to shave a slice of the side of the insulation on a cylinder to squeeze it in a tight spot, but only if I have no choice.
The Essex flanges are to be avoided in my opinion - they have soft...
For anyone thinking of smaller cordless, Hilti now make them. £179 for complete kit I see.

Just been to a job where the customer has just had an oil company supply and fit a brand new oil tank to replace an old plastic tank that was apparently in poor condition.
They have just used a single skinned oil tank. Think nearly every regulation is broken. If it leaks it will go into...
Seems the AA & AAA Duracell batteries etc are no longer what they used to be, as they are leaking & causing damage to whatever they are fitted in. I am stopping buying them.
What batteries are decent lasting & don't leak?
It's a hard one to decide what is the right thing to do. I tend to be too helpful to most people, but I wouldn't give all that I know to a rival plumber. I will give him a little help if they are decent & more if they are a mate & help me when I need it.
My thoughts on helping the public are...
Today I was on a brand new plumbing & heating job. I have been asked to remove a rad & fit a smaller rad out further to allow a window seat. Also have to repipe a rad to towel rail swap & a basin to vanity unit swap.
TBH, it all is a bit of a DIY job (a builder did house refurb & most rads are...
This has been puzzling me for ages & now today I have had a call about water coming through a ceiling.
Went to it, not knowing anything about the fairly new house & found a Heatline unvented cylinder with water all over the floor below the tundish.
Was actually the relief valve from the red...
Last week I went to a condensing oil boiler only installed about 7 years max ago & also serviced regular by a " proper company." Boiler (outdoor) just put tight to ground, oil line not brought up outside unit & no remote fire valve (just a fuseable head valve INSIDE ) & ptfe tape on threads for...
Anyone any ideas? Never had bad luck like this!
At a boiler with a Bentone B11 burner that would constantly lock out after about 2hours on.
Firstly, this burner is only 3 year old & in brand new condition to look at. I have checked nearly everything including the oil getting to burner, the...
I see Sven Eriksson has given an interview a couple days ago to a Swedish newspaper re his former girlfriend Nancy dating Camillas brother.
In it he has said that "she was never going to go out with a plumber."
Don't you just love working in one of the apparently - lowest, boring, unsexy jobs?
Does anyone know if a monobloc kitchen sink mixer with a spray type head of some sort exists that will work on gravity?
Lady really wants one but I have told her they are designed for high pressure & her home is a bungalow, with the cwt just raised slightly above joist level, so only a couple...
