What could be causing this noise in the tundish?

If it's a trapped tundish and it terminates into a soil pipe, flushing the toilet could be pulling air in through the tundish as the water goes past. Also, what Shaun said.

Missing pot from trapped gulley (Brand identification request)

You are an absolute star! It was Brett-Martin and using the measurements I took was able to find one at a local merchant. I had to buy the whole assembly and just use the internals but that has saved a nightmare of a job. The parts fitted perfectly. Thanks, Basher.

Missing pot from trapped gulley (Brand identification request)

I appreciate your efforts. That's a good place to start. I'm trying to avoid driving around to all the merchants and looking at everything. I'll find out who does Brett stuff and start there. Might as well start somewhere. Amazing the bother that some clueless person can cause by not immediately...

Missing pot from trapped gulley (Brand identification request)

Hi Guys, I have a customer who has had building work done and the pot (if that's what it's called) has gone missing. I believe the builders blocked the drain with debris, removed the insert/pot/grill and the clowns didn't put it straight back and it got dumped with all the other waste on site...

Does anyone know the name of this model of Roca toilet?

Hi guys. I'm trying to identify a toilet model before ordering a seat for a customer. I went to what used to be a Roca stockist (they no longer are) and one of the guys there reckoned it might be "The Gap". I went to the new stockist and the guy there disagreed it was "The Gap" and that he'd...

    New Vaillant filling loop required.

Hi Folks, Where is the place to order a Vaillant filling loop, please? I looked around on the net but can't seem to find it as a kit. I'm not doing the job but he wants to know what to buy and replace it himself and asked me where to get one. I said I'd have a mooch. He sent this picture. I...

    Cold booster sets

Hi Everyone, For those who like a long read but I could rally do with some advice. Might be a bit long this. For background. A gardener/landscaping friend of mine is going to install an irrigation system in a customer's garden. He asked me to pop around and measure the pressures and flowrates...

What can happen when the wrong pump is installed

I've just found a load of old photos I took when I was an apprentice. Among them was this standard circulating pump that was installed on an unvented secondary return circuit. It should have been a bronze pump as I'm sure you know. I was called to re-install the unvented cylinder which was up in...

What size are the connections on these valves?

From a thread where I've been helping someone with radiator valve problems. Looking at the pictures of thes towel rail valves I'm not 100% certain what size the connections are. Pretty sure it's 15mm coming in to the valve but is the rad-side connection 1/2" with a fat nut or 3/4"? If anyone...

It looks interesting and my gut feeling is that this is genuine.

Sulphuric acid, hair in shower plug, very weird thing occuring

Hi guys, I've got a bit of a strange one here and wondering if anyone else has found this situation or has an explanation. Both me and the Mrs are long-haired types so the shower drain gets quite clogged with the stuff which I have to clean out every now and again. In my line of work I've...

    DIY advice - saddle clips

Pretty much everything in my Dad's house is copper on the surface like that, clipped to skirting boards and painted same colour as walls/boards where appropriate, very few boxings, a pleasure to work on the system. I grew up in that house and honestly only noticed the plumbing when I became an...

Non-concussive taps, an "argument" with a colleague

Hi guys. On the City and Guilds Level 3 course that I support as workshop technician, in the module on complex cold water controls they ask me to provide a "Concussive tap" and in the student worksheets also ask what is the main purpose of them. The answer given is that it is a water saving...

Rookie DIY Mistake - Advice needed

Any claims on insurance would be very difficult if not impossible if the hose ever fails. They are often unreliable under ideal circumstances (I've been to countless floods and leaks because of flexi hoses) so I would not leave them in. I understand why you don't want the hassle of redoing the...

    Diy or not :D thoughts

It's a shocker isn't it? Look at the D1 from the T&P relief valve. The plastic! The Tectite wonder! I've asked him in the thread if the 15mm plastic pipe reappearing on the right side rear of the cylinder is the pipe coming from the T&P valve. Also I've asked to see the group inlet as well. I'm...

    D2 Discharge Pipe Materials

Hi Everyone, I have been asked by a student if any manufacturers have had their plastic pipe approved for use on the D2 discharge pipe of an unvented cylinder? I know about the HepVO method and using pushfit waste pipe to a stack - provided the stack is able to take this type of discharge - but...
