    Other way round push fit on solvent weld Push fit is a different material that’s capable of taking a higher temperature for a longer period without failure

    Years ago they used to be the same size and I would yes that’s what’s happened/ why the difference between the two exists

    The hot is fed via either a communal cold water tank or your own tank in the loft / above the cylinder

    Looking good if you remove the red handle there might be a gland nut that you can just slightly nip etc

    Did you remove the tail out of the rad as you’ve said you binned it you will need to buy more eg lockshield valve and a trv

    Yep metric and imperial versions most likely if it’s old will be imperial and very brittle Turn the water on slowly let it fill the pipe with hardly any pressure then once full finish off opening the stop tap

    The old adey ones had the same problems the threads would break down / jump due to the plastic being weak on the thread pitch / type of thread

    Well that’s strange as they’ve supplied me one recently I would push more and state there liable for showers and taps as there blocking up also you shouldn’t drink the tap water

    They would normally supply you with a brand new cylinder as when it degrades it breaks off and can clog stuff so defo shouldn’t be used once identified

    The ones I use haven’t had a problem but it’s like anything needs to be used / operated 6 monthly etc
