    Bath/Shower mixer

    My wife complained the mixer switching lever was getting stiff so I unscrewed it to see the problem.     My daughter has just had her small bathroom remodeled. It includes a bath with a shower at one end.     I have what i believe is a German made toilet bowl. At the back just above the pan outlet is a small round hole (obviously created when manufactured). What is this for and why doesn't water come out when you flush?
