Is my gas fire local isolation on the Restrictor?

Hello Plumbers. We had a gas fire fitted, one of those that looks like a log burner. I need to take it out to paint the wall behind. It has a restrictor valve under it but no isolating valve that I can see. Is the restrictor an isolator as well? Should there be a separate isolating valve? Is it...

    Annoying Gas Fire Problem

Hi, I have a Kohlangaz Gosford HE gas fire. It has recently been serviced but when it is set to it's lowest heat output setting using the Remote control the heat output now seems excessive compared to that which we have become used to since it was installed in 2017. I contacted the firm who...

Gas fire not fixed to wall????

Hi all, I'm puzzling over a gas fire Valor Homeflame. (I've fixed/serviced quite a few gas fires over the last five years, but am still learning). Every gas fire I've so far come across has been fixed securely to the closure plate/back wall, so it can't be accidentally pulled out forwards...

    Capping pipe to gas fire/purging.

If capping a feed to a gas fire in 15mm do you tend to use compression or solderd caps. I know comp. Is OK if accessible. But I prefer solderd caps. But does purging become an issue with solderd caps?

    Gas fire vermiculite replacement

I have an old gas fire which wasn't working well. I asked a plumber to do a CP12 test (£40 as an addition to the boiler test) and tell me what he thought was required. After doing this he said it needed servicing, which would be an additional £60, and then would probably be OK. I went ahead with...

Broken coals bed on gas fire - Pass or fail?

Hi, There are a total of four beds in my gas fire, to which all the individual coals then get located. We have an existing open flame gas fire ( installed years ago) we are now told it needs to be taken out because it is lit by hand and gas regulations say it is illegal, the engineer wouldn’t service it. Our previous gas safe engineer has retired but he never mentioned any problems, they tell us...

    re-routing gas fire pipe

I'm due to fit my first gas fire (been servicing them for a while, but not yet fitted one). The previous fire's 8mm pipe runs from the right hand side of the chimney opening. Quite possibly, the new fire will take a side entry pipe. However, I'm curious - if I need to re-run the pipe, so it...
