How well does bunging the cold feed and Open vent work

Have a radiator to swap. I'm thinking of piping back to the current supplies. The rad is slightly smaller. The connecting on the the old pipes at the end one by one. Would using bungs in the open vent a cold feed create enough of a vacuum for me to do this? Which a drain down. Thanks

Water Heating Wont Work Unless Tank Thermostat Is Turned up and Down Manually!

Have a sytem boiler with unvented cylinder with 2 heating zones plus hot water in a house we moved into recently. To start with we were always amazed at the water pressure so on the odd occasion that the water was only luke warm it was easily forgiven, but over time we have come to realise that...

Inside water stopcock doesn't work. Want to check if the right one

Hi, I have a stopcock in my closet at my flat, but despite me turning it clockwise all the way, this doesn't seem to be stopping the flow of water. Is there anyway I can check if that truly is the stopcock and if not, is there a way I can find the actual one? I just want to stop the water flow...

    Work trainers/footwear I need suggestions

I'm going through too many trainers and boots, always the toes that come apart first, I'm on my 4th pair this year and they have lasted at best 4 weeks. I've been taking them back for a refund so I'm still on the same £35.00. I've had all manner of hiking trainers/ normal trainers etc but they...

Is this why my new radiator does not work?

Hello all, I live in a flat that has communal heating through a single pipe system. I recently had replaced a deco flat panel (waffle) radiator with a more mundane type 22 panel radiator. The problem is that the new radiator sort of worked in the beginning, but it does not emit any heat now...

Does anyone's heating actually work as intended with thermostat?

Hi all, I keep reading about how you should use a smart thermostat. Set it to the temp to want the home to be and hey presto it takes care of itself. But realistically who does this or rather who does this work for. With mine I just use it to turn the heating on now and then for short periods...

Anyone advertise/been involved with emergency work?

I don't mean happening to be available when an emergency comes in but actually advertising as an emergency plumber. How does it work? I can envisage something like a £100 call out for turning up within an hour of a call, paid via card machine before entering the property, then work on top at...

2 soil stacks 1 vent - will it work?

Hi, I'm wondering if this is allowed or will work in the UK. We currently have all our waste water connecting to a single vented stack. The pipes from the toilets etc connect to the vertical stack via a horizontal pipe as you would expect. I'm about to renew all the soil pipes. We have 2 entry...

Will a blanking cap work for this?

Afternoon all, I have just removed a bathroom radiator and now wondering how to plug the end? Am I right in understanding that I should screw a 15mm blanking cap onto the end of this? Or do I need to install a compression stop? Thanks in advance for any help or advice

Is this changed domestic hot water system design going to work ok?

Hi, We are having PV panels fitted which will dump the excess energy into our hot water tank. Our house originally had a large 210L economy7 hot water tank (cold tank in loft), but the hot water tank died 18 years ago. At that time we fitted a smaller 117litre tank and went for fitting electric...

Is this going to be work OK??!!!

Hi, After years of using a pumped electric shower (Triton t80 pumped), it's now dying and I'd like to replace it with a 'normal' mixer shower running off the vented hot water tank as this is now largely heated by solar PV . When we first moved to the house there was a shower head coming off the...
