1 gas meter

They've had a house with a cellar 1 middle floor and a loft converted into 2 flats, gas meter is in the bottom flat (cellar) does the above flat need a separate gas meter or can it have a line run from the existing meter, as it's one property and all owned by the same person

As far as I remember you can fit as many secondary meter's as you like but it's down to the owner of the primary meter, who will be paying for all the gas used in the property, to charge and collect from the others! It's been a good few years since I've had much to do with Metering mind so I may be totally wrong

no problem having two flats supplied from one meter but both flats must have access to the ecv

Can a second ecv be placed on the incoming to the second flat ? All pipe work will be run on outside, supplying only 1 boiler on the outside wall off both

If altered pipework is external it's fine to run separate flats from one meter as long as the total HI Of both doesn't exceed 63kw and will overload the meter

As you have said fit an AECV at the entry point of both, there does also require some communication with both if work is being done on the meter and it will be turned off as access will be required to purge and relight, but if both owned by the same person it can't be too difficult to organise
