Has anybody installed a magnaclean on a 1 pipe system?

Where abouts is the best place to put the magnaclean?

cheers!!!!!!!!!!

one pipe? sorry mate but even putting a combi on that you would have a crap system, cant the customer upgrade to 2 pipe? i Imagen it would go on the return to boiler

If you are going to put it on then it wants to be in the heating return to the boiler, but like the previous poster said it's a waste of money putting one on a crap system.

again the customer has been tortured by british gas and has gone out and bought the bits himself as per the bg quotation. I have tried my very best in talking him into an upgrade but he has had the british gas talk and they agreed between them that a powerflush and a magnaclean would resolve his problems! amazingly, the customer is a big wig in the energy efficiency market!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only way to powerflush a single pipe system is to remove each radiator in turn and do it outside as well as flushing out the pipework.

I had a customer with a single pipe sytem last year and British Gas hooked up a flusher to the CH pump body, did the usual thing one radiator in turn and predictably enough, no difference as the water just rushes past the rad on the single pipe instead of going through it. They were charged £500 for a 9 rad house which achieved virtually nothing.

If he has the Magnaclean already, then fit it but if his rads haven't been taken off and washed out its a waste of effort.

he has bought 7 new rads so i will be removing them all, flushing the pipework, fitting new valves throughout and the fitting magna clean!!!!! i managed to do it for less than a third of british gas quotation and still look to have a good days money

You try explaining this to a paying customer that has been talked into a job by british gas and believed every word they said but just could not afford it! i do agree with what you are saying and wish he would upgrade but i am here to keep my customers happy and he is happy!

i can see your point but he will mump like hell when it dont work right put it in writing that you strongly recommend conversion just to cover your bum!!

Why dont you refer him to this web site? then he can see what we are all saying. I know it's often difficult to convince some people that BG are not the experts in this industry any more, also there is a danger of you not getting a job if your price is only one third of BG's price, customers can think they will get an inferior job when the difference is that much. Why not say you will do the job and upgrade his system to a two pipe for the BG price, that might work LOL. But back to your question: cant see that the "magnaclean" can do any harm, I would fit it on the boiler heating return.
Martin.
