Glowworm website said:To receive the full benefits of the extended guarantee the following terms and conditions must be adhered to or your claim may be rejected:
- The Benchmark log book must be completed by the installer at point of installation and retained on site by the owner/occupier for inspection during an engineer visit.
- The boiler must be serviced annually by a registered Gas Safe Engineer in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
- Service details must be recorded in the Benchmark logbook which must be available for inspection.
- The cost of the annual service is not included in the guarantee.
- To benefit from the lifetime (15 year) warranty the boiler must be serviced annually by Vaillant Group Service. The cost of this is not included in the price of the boiler.
- The guarantee applies to the boiler at the installation address, and is not transferable with a change of the homeowner.
- Only boiler component failures are covered by the guarantee.
- If any failure is caused by contaminated water in the system the engineer visit becomes chargeable.
- The extended guarantee applies to the boiler only, it does not apply to other system components e.g. thermostats, time clocks, motorised valves etc..
- All installation, non boiler or external system fault calls will be charged to the home owner/occupier and could also invalidate your guarantee.
- For calls requested to boilers within the guarantee period a refundable deposit may be required; returned in full if the diagnosed fault is covered by the boiler guarantee.
- Vaillant Group reserves the right to change these Terms & Conditions at anytime and its decision regarding guarantee claims is final.
well they would, you keep fitting themRep told me there very good and do not break down
post 17It could be argued from my own experience, that Vaillant and Glow worm are about stealing the installers' customers through warranty card details. I don't think gas installers are catching on to the way the industry is going.
Gas installer pays for overheads of being registered, does the training while working free (sometimes), advertise their business, estimates for job, installs boiler prior to payment, hopes he gets paid, takes accountability for initial installation complying with all necessary regulations for life.
Then manufacturer takes it all from there. I would think the terms and conditions include annual servicing, which I would guess, is done by Glow worm for a cost. Boiler made of plastic parts that cost diddlysquat to buy for manufacturer, so maintenance not a costly problem.
Manufacturer has customer for ten years (not installer), to sell to them whatever that captive audience wants to buy from them such as plumbing insurance, green products, electrical products, and whatever else manufacturer knows about customers buying habits.
