18 year old male, 2nd year plumbing, looking for an apprenticeship in Essex. FREE!

I am currently in the second year of my plumbing course and urgently require an apprenticeship, initially 2 days a week, willing to work for free.

I live in Hornchurch, Essex.
18 years old.
Male.
Driving test imminent.
Hard working.
Willing to learn.
Punctual.
Able to start work immediately

I study on Mondays and Tuesdays, so any other day I am willing to work/learn.

I need this in order to proceed onto the 3rd year as the course is only taking on student with apprenticeships .

As I said in the before, I am willing to work for free, no wages required, just your expertise.

I've had 8 or 9 phone calls and half a dozen c.v's in the last month. Makes you wonder what these people are being told about the plumbing trade!

The roads are paved with gold and you'll be earning 100k within weeks. But then forgetting to mention that there's little work and no one will take you on and you won't be experienced enough to start on your own.

Yes it has a lot to do with people 'selling' the plumbing courses, but I'm afraid people need to stop being lambs led to the slaughter and investigate the current state of the industry. Yes, I'm sure it will recover in 24,36 or 60 months down the line.

Anyway rant over, time for a weekend of copious amounts of lager!

you only need to google plumbing courses and so may are being advertised with generous earnings being suggested post qual

local colleges usually just run courses for the local area and therefore are responsive to demand, unlike centres who charge full cost as they open the doors to any willing participant

er!

i reckon on 5 years at the soonest, will be more like 20 years until it really steadies down. think about it, how many have trained in the last 5 years? they will be in the trade for many years to come, boom and bust attitude to training is dangerous. the apprenticeship systm allows colleges to respond to demand, therefore no over or under training, once this is opened up they overtrain and it takes years to settle down
