We are having an extension which is going horribly over budget. Our latest obstacle is that our builder has said that he is unable to procure or fit a new extraction flue to our boiler, because:
a) it is an old boiler where the necessary parts are now obsolete (a Potterton Suprima, Serial No: AHHO 751 0246. When serviced last year we were told it is in good condition and has another 6 or 7 years left in it. We think it is the original from when the house was built in 1999)
b) plumbers are unwilling to fit the parts because sometimes this will cause failure, and they want to protect their reputation (we have been advised that the required parts are straight connector, 3 bends, 2M of flue (pipe))
As such, we have been recommended to replace the system, which we simply cannot afford. b) plumbers are unwilling to fit the parts because sometimes this will cause failure, and they want to protect their reputation (we have been advised that the required parts are straight connector, 3 bends, 2M of flue (pipe))
