Hi all, (cant seem to go down a line so excuse the massive paragraph) we was working in a property which is a semi detached being knocked in to 1 house, there is a combi in each house along with a gas meter would this have to be changed as its 1 dwelling? as I'm currently doing my gas course it was something I haven't seen before or heard of. it seems another company is doing the heating side as were doing the bathrooms. Thanks Rob.

Providing you're not connecting the supplies then tbh its fine.
owners will pay a standing charge for both meters.

Their boilers are relatively new so could save them some money I guess not fitting unvented for example. I suppose this is why they have kept both meters supplying what they was original.

Are the combis big?
If they are keeping both combis I suppose it would be wise to tot up the gas rates to see if 1 x e6/u6 etc meter can supply all other appliances inc the 2 combis at full tilt.
Probably need the 2 gas meters.

28kw, 35kw plus hob and fire from what I seen. The gas run would be massive also to big for 1 meter I would of thought, unless you could get a run of 35mm or somthing. But it was just to see if 2 meters was aloud as not somthing I've seen before.

If the boilers are too big for one meter they could see about upgrading to the next meter size up assuming incoming pipe is big enough.
I thought standing charges only applied to the account not the number of meters for domestic systems so if they've got both meters on one account there would be no cost savings going for a single meter.

Well yes of course providing they will pay for an upgrade. Otherwise if they are tucked away in a cupboard...... out of sight out of mind and all that !

I think the other engineers problem was that they did their calculations and would need 35mm so far then 28mm pipe and a bigger meter from what I heard. if I was them think I would leave it how it is. cant see it being very cost effect if there spending all that extra cash when everything is already there.

if they are spending a lump on a house conversion it would work out cheaper to go unvented and system boiler, cant ever see the sense in 2 combis, mad! you could even run the bigger combi as a system if needed to save money

Can you do that with a combi? would you just cap cold coming in? what about diverter valve? I don't know the ins and outs of the job on the heating side was just interesting to see about the 2 meter idea. the Worcester they have looks newly installed also. so probably don't want to spend more money with unvented etc. but seems the better idea.
