hi all,
after some advice on the above boiler. did a safety check on it earlier and all readings are good but there is signs of a leak on top of heat exchanger (have got a photo but dont know how to upload it) so i have a burner gasket coming but it looks like water has been pooling at high limit stat also. should this also be removed and resealed with heat conductive paste?
also i cant find any resistance reading so as the check that the stat is still ok, does anyone have these or is there a link to all the resistance readings needed for the stats on this boiler.

im sure this is a bit of a newbie question but id rather be sure that i have the correct parts before i undertake the repair.
being as i will be replacing the burner gasket then i will also be cleaning the heat exchanger, what other seals should be replaced when servicing this boiler?
i have to remove the hydraulic block also as have to replace a leaking auto air vent and a prv, i have a pack of new fibre washers for the connections, is there anything else that should be replaced whilst i have these parts removed.
thanks in advance for your advice

john

I would check the heat exchange again. The stainless outer skin can leak where it joins the ally. this needs a new main heat x to cure.

I would get a 'o' ring/washer pack for the hydroblock just to be on the safe side. You dont always need them but its worth it.

Hi,
Yeah I didn't strip it Down today as I didn't have the new gasket. Presumably I would be able to see a crack/splitting in the heat x if this is the case? Would it still give acceptable readings on the analyser ?

You dont need to strip it to see. The stainless is kinda crimped onto the ally just before the clamp down piece.
The last one I saw leaking had brown gunk coming out of it and was ribbed like a bean can on the sides. It had shat itself because the dhw heat x had blocked.

And using the boiler with no pressure in the system can cause that ribbed effect , if it's under warrantee Worcester might replace the part depending on the condition of the system

hi john , im guessing from your post that the leak is on top of the boiler so i would be checking the flue, also worcester dont reccommend stripping down the boiler for at least five years so if it passes the negative fan test and the fga readings are ok you just need to replace the auto air vent and check the expansion vessel for pressure before you rip the hydro block out to get to the prv

hi all thanks for the advice, stripped the fan assembly off top of burner and couldnt see any damage to top of burner other than the scale left behind from the water marks. changed the gasket anyway and will be popping back in a couple of weeks to make sure no further leak evidence. boiler is 5 years old and all combustion readings were really good.
thanks again for the advice

Did you check air inlet also? Could be a flue seal causing the condense to pool on top of the heat exchanger
