The last 2 days ive seen BG doing work at 3 propertys local to me and each time ive seen 3 vans at each property...what on earth are they doing ??? No wonder they charge double anyone else.

one van to tell em dont make parts for their boiler anymore, one to sell em a powerflush and one to sell em a filter

Im proberbly just bitter... i failed a test to work as a subby a couple of years ago. 30 questions 40 of us in there an only 2 got took on.

One van to rule them all
One van to find them
One van to bring them all
And in the darkness bind them.

One to hold the laptop, one to read the instructions on the laptop and one to carry out the work

In Erdington i think cant remember where now exactly it was through an agency called Saints from London, £17 an hour if i remember rite.

Sod the agencies. I don't use them anymore. They take money for doing the best part of nothing. I sub to them without an agency and get far more per hour when I'm gettin paid hourly rate.

You had to do the test though tom? How did you get in with them?

I passed the test a couple of years ago and subbed there for 18 months or so. Then they got rid of everyone. Then they asked me back about 6 months ago, but they made me take the tests again. I passed them again, but it was just a ball ache doing them again.

Yeah i bet it was.. the paper is tough. All i can remember is if id been on a job id use my viper to find the answers for most of these questions. Pipe sizing and ventilation requirement questions where id work out from the book you were expected to just know the answer of the top of your head.

Maybe im a bit fick lol

If i remember rite there were 5 different papers they used thinking about it.

In all fairness you really should know ventillation requirements without a book. I did the test a couple years back before working for them, I passed it but I got told about 60% of people fail the test.

I took it and passed if i recall its multiple choice and for the ventilation ones i had to convert boiler output from metric to impoerial and the work out the size then change that back to metric

I did the test, pretty easy apart from a couple of poor photographic questions.
Did the weeks induction which was interesting to say the least.
Started working for them but fell out with them big time when I was being patronised and treated like a peasant by kids who's job I could do with my eyes shut.
Their loss!

I think the one another area i messed up on was near the end it showed various positions for pumps on a system and what the likely outcome would be if they were positioned in those places..air ingress etc and i was lost id only been passed a few weeks when i took the test (thats my excuse anyway).
