i have had a plumber in cos my heating packed in about a year ago..
he is was a local guy and had the 3 port valve to bits next to my cylinder in airing cupboard
the part he needed is not available or hard to get...but temporary he fitted a clothes peg across it but now i have heating and hot water on all the time...
as i said in my intro i know nothing about plumbing or heating systems..i have since had a another person look at it who said the whole thing needs replacing and tried to sell me a new boiler the lot..i have a picture of this 3 port valve in the position it is working now...i want to find out if anyone recognizes it or can tell me where to get a repl from...
all will make more sense when u view the picture...
cheers paul... DSCF0441.jpg

It's a Honeywell 3 port. Change the lot. Not just the motor. Not worth messing about. And get it done ASAP so that its safe. Unlike now!

Haha that's awesome work right there, something I'd be proud of....

Get a new valve fitted, easily available off the shelf in a plumbers merchant!

mountainman u hace a good sense humor no it looks like a mouse now i have looked again..its a flat like metal disc that when working i think turns on a pivot prob the peg is holding this valve open in all directions thanks to app plumbing i just googled 3 port honeywell but there seems to be alot diff models part numbers and prices so im still not sure which one i need..
paul

are you saying the second bloke said you needed a whole new heating system because the 3 port valve needed replacing or were there other problems

If it's Deffo a valve with three pipes going to it then you need a Honeywell V4073a or equivalent.

No but the plumber you call in will do, trust us this is not a job for a DIY'er.
Heating needs to be drained & then refilled (with a inhibitor added) the controls wiring needs to be taken apart & then reconnected & I would get the pipework insulated at the same time.

wow, good to see someone who hasnt been suckered in. sounds like you have had some dodgy plumbers, get a few quotes for replacing the valve. you dont need a new heating system and the valve is available off the counter

I have no intention of doing it myself a recent plumber a mate of my son did come in to fix the heating as some rads were not getting hot etc...he drained the whole system and poured inhibiter in the system also balanced the rads..now all rads are getting hot...but when i showed him this balls up in airing cupboard he lost interest and ive not seen him again..guess i cant blame him...but it needs to be fixed though...so if i buy a Honeywell V4073a that will do the job...i try and get my org guy back if not i will have to find a specialist ch eng here in somerset..
thanks guys for helping out a complete dimwit..
paul

You could just change the actuator not the entire valve provided the spindle turns freely, no need to drain down.

if you post a request in the looking for a plumber section there may be someone from here who can come round to sort it for you

i found on ebay an equiv at £37 delivered says its a direct repl for the honeywell 3 port switch also has a full guarrantee...i let u guys know how i get on...thanks for all your help over various posts <pps i rung company and asked if same as Honeywell V4073a>
paul....

If you are just changing the actuator head then an electrician can do it for you.

Hi I'm Alan and I have been reading these threads with interest as I too have a Honeywell 3 port v4073a and when my heating and water goes off sometimes the Honeywell stays on "humming" all night and you can feel it vibrating as well,
I replaced the timer as the local plumbers store thought it was that, but it is not, do you think it is the Honeywell 3 port that needs changing?

try starting new thread, sounds like you need whole new valve though rather then just head
