Forgive me if this a really stupid question. Went to a call out on Saturday, customer had heating to all rads, but no hot water but the system had no 3 port valve, cylinder was full, but water cold, and primaries on cylinder cold Aswell, should there be a 3 port on this? The cylinder cupboard was a proper spaghetti junction of pipes, horrible install

Yeah but they could be anywhere.

something has to be stopping it circulating through the h/w circuit.

I thought I was gong mad! Nothing at all in airing cupboard or near boiler, can't see where else it would be. But even if there was one I thought they failed to hot water side. Granted it could be fitted otherwise but just so frustrating

Why are you looking at it if they've just paid about £4k to British gas to replace the cylinder?

My money is on modern part L compliant cylinder on gravity system.

Yes cylinder question was to see if it was on gravity. Although if Bg replaced the cylinder, shouldn't of the gas board done the upgrade to fully pumped? Or at the very least fitted a tap stat? Sure they have to now?

Im betting airlock as well. Is there no vent point on the flow / return from the boiler?

Aav looks it good nick? Crack the compression nut (slowly!) and see if air is released. If so the aav is blocked / knackered.

It's brand new lol bloke who fitted cylinder fitted it. The sneaky bugger was there 9am til 8pm and obviously couldn't get it going as he just stuck immersion on and scarpered
