3port valve banging

What can possibly cause a 3 port valve to bang. Got called to a job that has banging intermittently coming from the cylinder cupboard. It didn't do it on my visit but apparently has continued. I switched the valve from hot water to central heating when was there.

Check it’s fitted the correct way, probably is correct, but can’t rule it out.

You could try reducing pump speed or open bypass a bit.

I'd say it's the motorised valve head gearing worn and jumping occasionally, probably the cam that moves the valve, not the motor.

Could one replace the head of the motorised valve on this situation. Or is a full new valve needed?

Depends on what valve is in and whether you need to design down or not.
