personal opinion now. i am totally biased, i have my boiler that i fit all the time, you all know which it is. it too has a 5 year guarantee. ive been installing them for 2 years ish? had one problem with one instalation, friday afternoon boiler needed new thermistor - fair does. tekkie turned up checked instalation paperwork was ok - wiring, flushing and commisioning numbers ok, fixed problem and left, never heard from him again.

satisfy my curiosity, especially you viessman installers, who do talk a lot about the 5 year guarantee - whats gone wrong with your new instalations, how was it sorted, did tekkie check your paperwork.

thanks

baxi 5 year warrentys pretty good [if they dont try to say they never received the warantee] they will fix anything with out complaint and as long as the boilers been serviced and installed well they are happy

so do they ask to see a yearly service ticket?

dont know with mine cause not had called back YET ! its a coming

yes,but heatteam are happy if i verbally say its serviced to be fair i checked on my records the other day 198 installs baxi 4 calls main 2 calls potterton 0 not a bad reliability record most calls were to platinum installs before the fans got modified[early ones failed after 2 years] with the main band b 1 was a pcb another was a thick customer but baxi are as good as gold if its not a product problem they dont charge ! and will send you any part in warranty if you want to repair your self this may cost us money but it keeps customers happy

I put a worcester greenstar 28c in last year and the pipe to the pressure gaage melted on the pump!! (recently changed from copper to plastic), called the teckies at 4pm, told them it was an old couple and they had it repaired 9am next day (in copper). customers v happy

Remeha boiler gave me loads of problems, a 24s heat only on a vented system, cutting out out all the time, techies responded quickly and changed thermistors, turns out eventually it was the customers pump he had replaced 6 months previously that was failling. I reckon that plumber used a second hand pump, muppet!!.

Still both companies answered the phone quickly and responded well, even ferolli answered after 20 minutes, last time i called. I never got an answer fm glowworm tech help as i gave up after waiting 40 minutes, guess what makes i wont be installing even if the customer has bought it themselves:eek:.

i used to work for a company that is worcester accredited and got to say worcester warranty is second to none sure they do go wwrong but usually next day and its reapaired they must carry all the parts for every boiler ive even called them when its been 5 years and a few weeks and they have done it out of goodwill a couple of times very good imo. now im working for myself we have started using viessmann not had to call them yet but woyuld be interesting to know. but to be fair all boilers have good and bad points.

Lets face it, most leading make of boilers are fairly reliable, many problems are a result of poor installation such as failure to propery clean olders systems etc. Many conponent parts of boilers are not manufactured by them,(diverter valves, plate h/exc, fans, gas valves, PCB's, prv's, aav's etc) they just assemble them, thats where one can be better than another as some manufactures have engineers to design the layout while other let the accountants decide. Its not that long ago that Vaillaint were chrome plating their pipe work inside the boiler, why I'll never know (over engineering) now days like so many boilers they have plastic push fit connections or rubber hoses with a couple of jubilee clips to join two peices of pipe (accountants input) cheaper.
Martin.
