We have a site in the Isle of Man where 'Town Gas' is only available until 2012, therefore the incoming Gas pipe I have sized to be 65mm Steel pipe, this has become a problem as we dont have anyone on site who can weld 65mm.

Does anyone know of, or have any ideas of a way around this, such as a tracpipe 65mm alternative?

Any help would be great, I realise we may have to bite the bullet and sub contract a welder out on the Isle of Man to weld, which would be a shame for cost aswell as it will be unnecessary in 2012 when its converted to natural gas.

tracpipe only goes upto 50mm, you can use copper up to 67mm for gas

Yes I understand that tracpipe only goes up to 50mm, thats why I was asking if anyone knew of an alternative flexible pipe that went up to 65mm.

Where can i find information on 67mm copper pipework, as I was under the impression that you could only work up to 42mm copper in Gas installations?

Thanks for the reply

run 2 pipes, like a ring main?

This seems like a very logical way around it. Any idea how it could connect to the 90mm gas main kiosk 6m from the plant room and the entry point at the building?

Is this as simple as splitting the pipework and running two pipes between the two points? I will talk to our gas engineer in the morning and see what he thinks as he is well up to date with his regs etc.

Thanks for the help

i must admit ive never seen a gas run in 67mm copper, but i recently done my commercial ACS and it was one of the questions in my exam

Mapress copper gas goes to 54mm and stainless steel mapress goes to 105mm. And it's dead easy to install. You need a commercial ticket thou

This is sorted now, in the end we had the pipe fabricated in England and drove it across in sections and we were about an inch out, so happy days.
