Hi Guys,

I had a letter from the water supplier saying that our water usage has massively increased, to the tune of 970 ltrs of water day.

also whether connected or not but we cannot get the radiators to heat up, hot water flows from taps, showers etc.

the boiler system is an ideal no idea of the Model.

a few symptoms i have noticed is that after a few min of the boiler being on the outlet at the front of the house is constantly flowing with hot water. in the boiler the DHW PRV is constantly flowing with hot water.

The CH pressure does not seem to holding any pressure.

If someone can help that will be amazing.

Many THANKS

I'd suggest that you get a heating engineer in to look at the boiler. This may be the source of the excessive water usage but you can make a few checks. With nothing running have a look at the water meter, if it is spinning you have a leak somewhere. Now shut off the internal stoptap, if the meter is still spinning the leak is prior to this. If it's outside the property most water companies offer a free replacement of the main up to the property boundary. If the leak is internal you can try isolating different things, boiler, toilets etc. and try to narrow it down. You may need to get a plumber in to sort the problem but if you do a lot of the investigative work yourself you will cut the cost.

if the dhw prv is constantl passing, it sounds like you have a fault with the cylinder (possibly remote or inbuilt within the boiler) sounds like the expansion vessel is shot, so whenever you have the hw on you are losing mains pressure water constantly via the prv, i should think that would account for your 970l per day

p.s if the storage cylinder is part of the boiler any plumber you get in to look at it will need to be gsr, if it is a remote uv cylinder (airing cupboard etc) then he will need to be g3 certified

Dont suppose youve noticed the odd damp patch

I think a more appropriate question would be to ask is:

Don't suppose you've noticed more of a lean to one side of your house?
Do your windows shut properly and do the doors close?

970 ltrs of water a day is a substantial amount, watch out for sink holes opening up.
If its not noticeable I would be getting slightly concerned
