adding water sofeners

Is it advisable to fit two scale inhibitors in tandem instead of one for a very hard alcaline water area...? Just that I was at a meeting the other day and went to the bathroom to find ''heeavy'' build of limescale, it was even on the walls..had a wee in the loo and had to run for it.
