on one of my flyers - my designer has put - 'magnacleans (fitted at half the price of british gas)'

now this is a qoute from one of my customers she said oh thats half the price she was qouted from british gas i told the designer this and he has put it on the flyer.... is there any problems with this as a couple of people have said thats using british gas as an advert for myself ? i see no problem in this as im only stating the truth.

wondering on any does and donts i shoudl be aware of as i am really pushing the advertising this next few months...

Well you have to have proof that it is half priice and when it was half price and put on bottom of flyer

eg

BG half price remark details refers to their' 'magnacleans are go' offer dated on the 4/2/2010' or what ever

There prices change every day, when super markets say asda mention tesco high priced they have to give exact time and date because of this

Your customer could have been unlucky and purchased a magnaclean between offers and been charged a high, false retail value set to allow exaggerated offers

What happens also if BG decide to do an offer tomorrow of 1/2 price fitting, you are going to be in trouble as you will have to half that again as you have specified no date relating to BG siduation 🙁

In fact as it stands BG can say any fitting price and then subcontract to you for half of it !!

Add info on bottom of flyer

i see puddle - its not the main part of the advertisement far from it, but it is on the flyer - as this venture is only part time at the moment (3 days a week) then im not too bothered if fitting a magnaclean, i do only do it for minimal money as it would generate more money in future custom as i have limited customer base at present, this is potentially gearing up for next april when i will be going alone but along with gas and oil services - wet side only at the moment. what i dont want is a bloody legal wrangle with bg for using there name. the problem being the flyers are being printed as we speak. so little bit too late. but if bg do start to offer magna clean for less than 250 then i will have to look at how to deal with that when it comes - but from what i know of british gas this wont happen. and i have the chance to offer customers a saving, and of getting my name known, in my own right rather than through the bloke im working for... only one of many things i offer, but the only thing the designer put in another companys name for. i thought good idea when i give go ahead but now i wish i hadnt and just left it out.
