Heyup, first of all I know im not a tradesman as im not apprentice trained. I did the city & guilds 6129 a couple of years ago on a fast track course. And although it didnt make me a plumber, it was worthwhile as it gave me some good knowledge to get started.
I have done basic domestic work i.e bathroom fitting etc (not central heating or tanks) on the side for people I know. But for the last 2 years I have been worked as a pipefitters mate for 2 different firms. Learned to weld does not interest me, so i really want to get into the domestic game. Im quite competent with fitting pipework, measuring etc as thats what i have been doing.
I think in pipefitting, there are always big firms who need 'mates' with it being large scale work. I.e heavy lifting, working up in the air so footing ladders etc. But i find with domestic plumbing, most of the outfits are one man bands, that dont need to take anyone on. And the one or two large domestic plumbing & heating firms probably wont want to know.
Can anybody give me some good advice. It would be much appreciated. Thanks
