Hi all

I have been reading on this forum for awhile now and its great and very informative with a lot of wise guys to give excellent advice so I hope someone can advice me.

My trouble is I've been looking for employment for about nine months with a experienced gas engineer unsuccessfully, the engineer i worked with is doing all new builds and mostly plumbing in far away locations. I really want to be excellent in fault finding, repair and installation and that is why I would like to work with a experienced engineer.

I have spoken to a number of engineers but there working with there sons or there retiring soon don't have time but always far too busy.

I have completed my ACS (CCN1) and got my domestic ticket and last week i got my catering ticket (with a change over from domestic to commercial catering) i hope this will put me in a better position for employment and i have recently joined the gas safe register too.

I would like employment ideally if there is anyone out there in Southend on Sea area who needs some help now and then or even full time please let me know and i have my own transport and tools now but I've just about run out of funds.

If anyone can suggest any other options to me I would be very thankfully.

Tony

Hi Tony,

Look further afield mate. Anyone local to you will see you as future competition.

Good luck son!

Feel for u mate, work was scarce for me, made me go self employed. Couldnt get the work, lost thousands of pounds! Now working for someone whos gave me a permanent contract also dont touch any of the nasty new plumbing. Everythings copper and has to look right even under floors! Keep at it, something will turn up!

I am between a rock and a hard place I don't have the best child care situation right now and your right about the competition tho thanks for that advice.

Thanks koogatubac right now I feel like I made a mistake spending all my money and then some going throw the training, exams and sleepless nights but I hope your right that something turns up.

Persistance, have you tried the gas safe register search. Put in a post code and it will give you loads of registered businesses. Its a bit of a chore, but it might come up with someone.

Scan through yellow pages and fire out a few letters or call them. Gas safe register as Reg man says is also a good idea.
Go to your local plumbing suppliers and ask if you can put up a notice, you might be just what someone is looking for.

You have nothing to lose with all of the above and won't cost you anything.
Good luck mate and keep us posted on your progress.

JJ

Hi Reg Man that is a good idea thanks and there are a lot of GSR people around me.

Hi JJ thanks for your idea I'll give that a try too I think it might be the wrong time of the year for me to be looking I guess but I am going to get a dozen poster made and I'll give it a go. Thanks mate
