I fitted a solid fuel stove were there was originally a solid fuel range which was removed years ago .
the stove has four tapings 22mm central heating flow and return for the rads and 28-mm gravity flow and return for the cylinder.
And i have the pump on the central heating 22mm flow pumping out to the rads and a pipe stat on the 28-mm gravity return set at 45 every thing works ok for a day or so and then the pump keeps on getting air and wont work hens the stove
starts to boil.
i have to bleed the pump and then every thing is ok again until the next day or so then i have to repeat the proceeder all over again
I was thinking about putting on an aav between the stove and the pump on the 22mm flow would this work? can any one help?

Thanks rors

Firstly is the pump at a high point with no vent?

Secondly, sounds like pump is either pulling as opposed to pushing, and / or the f&E pipes are incorrectly positioned.

Something wrong somewhere

Pressure test the system

Have you added inhibitor?

Put an automatic air vent in the section above the pump

Does any water overflow from the cistern at any point? Check cistern level (should be about 4" from the bottom of the cistern when cold.)

Okay rors,

Simplest thing you could try is turning the pump speed down.

Is there any inhibitor in the system? System dirty? It could be gassing? Bi product of corosion! Which is then making it's way to the pump. Flush would help resolve that! An AAV could do the job too but it also has a chance of spirting the odd bit system water out, which ain't very nice if it's on show.

If all is on the level you'd assume any air would simply make it's way out the vent wouldn't you?

Hope that helps :)

Hi All
I have the pump on speed 1.
but every second day or so the pump needs bleeding there,s not a lot of air but the pump wont work unless i bleed it
Thanks For all your help Rors
