anyone have any problems with these ?

boiler kettling - thermistor maybe on way out but seems more like a circulation problem - pump seems ok, no water flying out and spindle spins freely. But boiler overheating and noisy by seperator.

I dont come across them much to be honest - but this one estate by us has loads of them.

What boiler ? Lots of problems with the open vent head! Needs to coply with minimum requirements, 300mm comes to mind but don't quote me :)

IMO Air separators are an unsatisfactory bodge up for a system design problem

Chemically clean and powerflush, then (provided its a controlled heat source) get rid of the air separator and F&E and replace with a sealed system unit.

The air seperator is blocked. Remove and replace or configure to close couple open vent. The heat isnt getting away from the boiler quick enough which is causing the problem and only gets worse when heated as the blockages expands when hot
