after pulling hair out with the plumber, not wanting to sort this, I started looking at the boiler manual and noticed the gravity and pump connections to the boiler cross on the heat exchanger. hmm, turned on heating felt pipes, sure enough they had plumbed the flow and return wrongly, as they used the existing gravity connections and got it wrong upstairs in the cupboard. so now hes coming back to sort it, im going to suggest he cuts the 28's and connects to the capped off 22's, as this is the correct connection for a pumped circuit.
what worries me is this is a Gas Safe engineer who agued with me that there wasn't a problem. I recently had the GS cert for the install come through, with an invitation to have the install inspected by them. im seriously considering taking them up on this. my only concern is if they condemn the setup, as I could end up having spent the money only to get no where with GS and the plumber e.g. GS turn it off and the plumber is under no obligation to sort it.
